# AI activity

> Which AI companies read your site, and when an assistant fetched a page for a real person.

AI systems visit sites for different reasons. Stage tells them apart and reports them separately from human traffic.

## Four kinds

| Kind             | What it is                                                                                                                      |
| ---------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **For a person** | An assistant fetched your page because a real person asked it something. This is the one that means a person was pointed at you |
| **Search**       | An AI search product building its index                                                                                         |
| **Training**     | A crawler collecting data to train models                                                                                       |
| **Agent**        | An automated agent carrying out a task                                                                                          |

## Where you see it

The **AI activity** card in the Performance tool shows:

* **Crawl volume by company.** How much each AI company reads your site. It is volume, not interest: a company can be top here without ever sending you anyone.
* **Per page:** human views, crawls, and **live** fetches. Live is the number that matters. It counts the times an assistant fetched that page for a real person.

The Takeaways card sums it up as the number of times assistants fetched the site for real people.
