# Text, links and images

> Change words, format them, add links, and swap pictures, all in place.

## Text

Click and type. The text keeps its exact style, because you are typing into the real page.

Select some words and a small menu appears: **Bold**, **Italic**, **Link**. Long-text areas such as an article body also take headings, lists, quotes and media through the `/` menu. See [Articles and the blog](/editing/articles).

Short fields such as a title take plain text only. Paste into one and only the words come through.

## Links

1. Select the words.
2. Press the link button, or <kbd>⌘</kbd> <kbd>K</kbd>.
3. Paste the address and press <kbd>Enter</kbd>.

Clear the address to remove the link. Pasting a link over selected words links them in one step.

## Images and video

Click an image and the library opens, newest first.

* **Pick one** and the page swaps it in.
* **Upload** with the upload tile, or drop a file onto the dialog.
* **Generate** one from a description, where that is enabled for your site.

A slot that takes video shows both images and videos.

  **No alt text to write** Stage writes a description of every image when it is uploaded. You can correct it in the [media library](/editing/media).

## Dates

A date field opens a calendar, so the date stays a real date however the design shows it.
