Stage never changes your page’s layout to make it editable. There are no placeholder boxes and no “add here” bars. Everything happens from a tab beside the section, and from small controls that appear when you hover an item.

The tab on the right edge

In Edit mode, every section you can add to has a dark tab on the right edge of the page, level with it. What is on it depends on the section. Items can have their own tab, shown on hover, for lists inside them.

Adding

1

Hover the section and press + on its tab

2

Fill in the short form. It asks only for what a new item needs

3

The item appears in place, in the real design. Click into it to edit like anything else

Reordering

  • Lists you can see all of: hover an item for its handle and drag it past the others.
  • Carousels and tabs: hold the grip on the section’s tab. A strip of thumbnails opens. Drag the held one up or down.

Removing

Hover an item and press its ×.

Adding sections or pages

Some pages accept new sections. Their tab lists the kinds available. New pages are created where the design expects them, such as when you add a project to a projects list.
For a new kind of page or section Send a Request to the team who built the site. Stage can only add what the design already knows how to show.
